When Gordon Holdridge left his bike outside a federal building in Kalamazoo last June he had no idea he would be arrested for his bumper sticker. The wording read “This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb” and it caused him to gain notice from a SWAT team and charges for making a false bomb threat.

Holdridge was in the area taking part in an Occupy Wallstreet protest and he says the sticker was a reference to a Florida-based punk band. The charges were eventually dropped but Holdridge is concerned about what he feels was an attack on his Freedom of Speech especially since it happened again on August 31st. Should citizens be arrested for bumper stickers in a post 9/11 America? Or should people like Holdridge be able to adorn their property with the slogan of their choice?
