(Kalamazoo, MI)- Friday, protestors stood in front of Bank of America to stand in solidarity with the Murray Family from Coldwater, MI that were recently a victim of the largest mortgage fraud in history.
Local supporters, Occupy Kalamazoo and some of Kalamazoo’s local artistry came out to spread the word to others the fraudulent activity Bank of America is doing to hardworking homeowners. Lots of people slowed down to read the signs held by those fighting for justice for homeowners.
One customer asking what was going on, vowed to close her account with Bank of America after learning some facts from some of the rally participants.
Local media from Kalamazoo to Grand Rapids were invited to cover the rally for the Murray’s and keep the conversation going about the epidemic of home foreclosure, especially in Kalamazoo. Unfortunately, individual home foreclosures aren’t important enough for local mainstream media to cover.
(Kalamazoo, MI)- A steady stream of car enthusists came out to check out vintage and current model cars with sound systems, customized paint jobs, a transformer car and many other spectacular cars to admire.
Local hip hop artists, including JCutlass KnightsofMayhem Mixtapes, Drama Konspiracy Rekords, Skitzo MichiganMusicM, to name just a few who performed.
Local vendor, were available as well with handmade jewelry from Sakara Jewelry Collection of Kalamazoo, ribs and inflatables for the children to play entertain themselves.
Please help keep the Murray’s in their hotel. They were illegally evicted by Bank of America on May 14, 2013. The Murray’s have until May 31, 2013 and will face eviction once again if resources aren’t available to pay for room.
The family does not have any income coming in at the moment, but able to work if they have a stable enough home so Matt can connect some of his studio to do voiceover work. He is an artist with a gift. He can’t utilize his talent if his studio is in storage and the family is worried about where they will stay or their next meal.
The Murray’s have not given up the fight for their home. Thank you for you support and concern.

Things you can do to take direct action in support of the Murray Family:
United States government sues Bank of America
Michael Benthin, homeowner and his family along with community supporters will demostate at the Bank of America located at 6660 S. Westnedge at 12PM, noon.
The Benthin/Mac family defies Bank of America and vows stay in their home where they have lived for 3 years. The Benthin/Mac family tried to work with Bank of America for more than 3 years to obtain a loan modification through programs established by the Federal government after the massive taxpayer bailouts of the banks in 2008-2009. Bank of America received a total of $45 billion in bailout funds. In addition, the Federal Reserve agreed to guarantee $118 billion of Bank of America assets, committing taxpayers to take on 90% of Bank of America’s losses if the bank lost more than $10 billion. Yet, Bank of America refuses to work with distressed homeowners such as the Benthin/Macs who were victims of the economic crisis caused by Wall Street and the Big Banks.
In addition, supporters of the Benthin/Mac family call on Bank of America to stop the eminent eviction of the Murray family, from Coldwater, MI. They will also demand that the bank work with the Cullors family from Detroit in modifying their loan by reducing the principal and interest rate.
A simultaneous demonstration will take place at noon at the Bank of America branch located at 500 Griswold, in downtown Detroit.
The family started on online petition with grassroots community group Occupy Our Homes. The petition has received support from all over the country: http://start2.occupyourhomes.
