De La Soul With New Singles and Album, ‘You’re Welcome’

Me, myself and I and quite a few fans would be interested in new music from legendary hip hop trio, De La Soul. De La Soul have announced plans to release a new monthly series of singles leading up to their new album in nine years.

“Get Away (feat. the spirit of Wu-Tang),” in the first of the hip-hop group’s planned series of monthly single releases, through YouTube and social media. The group has decided to only release songs building momentum for their new album ’You’re Welcome.’De La Soul will join LL Cool J, Public Enemy and Ice Cube next month to kick off the summer’s national Kings of the Mic Tour. The tour will make a stop at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI, June 26, 2013.

LL Cool J To Headline, “Kings Of The Mic” Tour In May

A few legends of hip-hop will perform at Casino del Sol’s AVA May 23 as the “Kings of the Mic” tour kicks off in Tucson. LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Public Enemy and De La Soul are all scheduled to perform.

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Akron Civic Hosting Fifth Annual Hip Hop Showcase

On September 2nd, the Akron Civic will mark the Fifth Anniversary of the Akron Hip-hop Showcase featuring De La Soul, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Jeru tha Damaja, Special Ed, DJ Mick Boogie, and the 2012 “Akron Hip-hop On-line Talent Search” winner, Ali tha Prince.

Ismail Al-Amin, executive director of Keepers of the Art shares that showcase what was created are for those artists who helped lay the foundation for the culture, which is peace, love, unity and having fun, current artists who are carrying on the tradition of the “true-school.”
