Happy Birthday Dr. King-Celebrating The Legacy Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

On August  August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King, Jr’s speech, “I Have A Dream” echoed across the nation. On this day in 1929, a great leader, speaker, minister and peace activist was born.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a United States federal holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The MLK day is observed on the third Monday of January each year, which is around the time of Martin Luthor King’s birthday.

He led the  non-violent 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in 1957.  In  1963 the March on Washington,  is where King delivered his famous  “I Have a Dream” speech.

King received the Nobel Peace Prize  in 1964 for combating racial inequality through nonviolence.

Dr. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee.
