HOMEOWNER VOWS TO FIGHT EVICTION

HOMEOWNER VOWS TO FIGHT EVICTION

Michael Benthin, homeowner  and his family along with community supporters will demostate at the Bank of America located at 6660 S. Westnedge at 12PM, noon.

The Benthin/Mac family defies Bank of America and vows stay in their home where they have  lived for 3 years. The Benthin/Mac family tried to work with Bank of America for more than 3 years to obtain a loan modification through programs established by the Federal government after the massive taxpayer bailouts of the banks in 2008-2009. Bank of America received a total of $45 billion in bailout funds. In addition, the Federal Reserve agreed to guarantee $118 billion of Bank of America assets, committing taxpayers to take on 90% of Bank of America’s losses if the bank lost more than $10 billion. Yet, Bank of America refuses to work with distressed homeowners such as the Benthin/Macs who were victims of the economic crisis caused by Wall Street and the Big Banks.

In addition, supporters of the Benthin/Mac family call on Bank of America to stop the eminent eviction of the Murray family, from Coldwater, MI. They will also demand that the bank work with the Cullors family from Detroit in modifying their loan by reducing the principal and interest rate.

A simultaneous demonstration will take place at noon at the Bank of America branch located at 500 Griswold, in downtown Detroit.

The family started on online petition with grassroots community group Occupy Our Homes. The petition has received support from all over the country: http://start2.occupyourhomes.org/petitions/
